We helped coffee lovers to create the perfect espresso.
The project was created together with Illy’s R&D department, to allow users to create their coffee blend based on their tastes.
The solution developed by Enhancers is based on an intelligent machine for real-time grinding and infusion. Through the tablet application, it is possible to control the “personal blender” and manage the orders by the bartender. A mobile app allows the user to adjust the blends, customizing the drink to their taste.
The innovative Personal Blender was tested at EXPO 2015 in Milan, where over 3000 personalized coffees were provided. The project is one of the first examples of IoT solutions applied to the HORECA world, anticipating by several years some of the trends currently being developed for the intelligent management of consumption and the user’s self-care experience.
The design of the application, available both on Android and iOS, was developed with the Xamarin framework. For IoT communication, the MQTT protocol was used, it is a light publish-subscribe messaging protocol designed for situations where low impact is required and bandwidth is limited.
